Flatbeds, reefers, and tanks, oh my! There are so many different types of trucks out there, designed to haul different items, from large pieces of equipment, frozen food, and more. One type of truck worth an honorable mention is the tank truck because they specialize in hauling liquefied freight all across the country.
Tank trucks or tanker trucks bring us are milk, water, wine, and more. Also, some of the stuff they carry, like fuel, for example, is extremely flammable! Meaning driving a tank truck can involve a few extra degrees of danger. This is such a big deal that tank trucks have earned their very own week. Tank Truck Week 2017
National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) is an organization founded in 1945. This group has always had the goal of representing the interests of the tank truck industry by promoting safety and success in the tank truck community through advocacy and education. One of the best ways they can spread safety and awareness is through their Tank Truck Weeks!
This years Tank Truck Week will be October 10 through the 12th. It will be located in Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and the New Orleans Marriott. Now, what better excuse do you have to head down to the beautiful city of New Orleans than to learn about tanker truck safety?!
You can join industry carriers and private fleets as they engage in North America’s largest tank truck convention to learn about safety and education. You can also network with carriers and suppliers, view the latest technology and solutions, and more.
There will be tons of seminars and workshops that tackle topics such as driving distracted, US DOT Cargo & Tank Inspection, and more. Two exciting keynote speakers to mention are Steve Murphy and Javier Pena. These gentlemen are former DEA special agents who inspired the Netflix original series, Narcos.
Each day will be action-packed with events, from start to finish with food, seminars, workshops, and more. On Tuesday, October 10th, you can check out the FMCSA Safe Cargo Tank Truck Practices Research Session all day from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Then on Wednesday, you can see the Professional Tank Truck Driver of the Year winner, Candi Coate, from K-Limited Carrier, Inc. Also, on Thursday at 1:30 PM you can check out the Cargo Tank Risk Management Committee Meeting.
