How To Get Ready For The 2nd Quarter IFTA Deadline

We know most Americans associate July with cook outs, celebrating freedom, and beach trips – but here at ExpressIFTA, we know what July really means.

July is that time of year where we scramble to get our IFTA returns reported on time.

Of course, if you’re a frequent reader at the ExpressIFTA blog, you know that already. You also know the simplest way to create your quarterly IFTA return is by generating it at ExpressIFTA.

First and foremost, the deadline for 2nd quarter IFTA reports is August 2nd, 2021 this year.

You’re gonna need all the time you can get, because you also have an upcoming IRS HVUT Form 2290 deadline right around the corner.

So how do you file?

Step 1: Sign in or Create Your Account

Your first step is to sign up for an account, or just login if you already have one. The good news is, it cost you nothing to create a new account. Once you’re in our system, you simply need to enter some basic business information, your base jurisdiction, and your IFTA license number.

If you’ve used ExpressTruckTax before, simply login with your same account. You will then be prompted to set your units of measurement for your distance traveled and fuel purchased, (e.g. miles/kilometers, gallons/liters) and your truck information.

Step 2: Enter Mileage & Fuel Information

Now you need to enter your mileage traveled and the amount of fuel purchased during the quarter.

Here’s where things get cool – you can enter your fuel and mileage information manually, but you can also upload it through an Excel spreadsheet.

If you are manually entering the records of your trips, all you will need to enter is the state, odometer reading, and the amount of fuel purchased for each trip.

Once your information is in our system, ExpressIFTA automatically calculates the amount of tax due based on your data.

Step 3: Generate & Transmit Your Return

Hey, you made it to your final step. At this point, the system automatically runs a diagnostic report to review your report for any errors based on your estimated miles per gallon.

Note, this audit check doesn’t guarantee that your report will be accepted. Instead it serves to find basic errors that may otherwise go overlooked.

Once you’ve entered your information and completed your return, simply follow the instructions to send the return to your base jurisdiction.

If you run into any issues with your IFTA return, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 704.234.6005 or email us at Support@ExpressIFTA.com, and our U.S.-based support team will be happy to assist you.
